What I've been up to
These last few months have been a whirlwind, full of connections, travel, and joy. Here I am, back home in Virginia with North Dakota on my mind. Watch out, or the people of the Great Plains will steal your heart. ❤️
It was an honor to speak about social entrepreneurship a few weeks ago with NDSU students, faculty and community. Such thoughtful questions from the audience, and fun conversations with current and future social change leaders at the book signing table. 💪 A huge thanks to the Challey Institute for Global Innovation and Growth at North Dakota State University for the invitation and the charming hospitality.
The big sky landscape of Fargo is just…wow! My first trip there was far too short, I want to come back to visit the Badlands and Minnesota Lake country. If I’m lucky maybe catch the northern lights. Next time! 🌾 ☀️ 💫
Linkedin Live conversation about nonprofit innovation
If you have 30 minutes to spare, folks tell me they enjoyed this conversation as much as I did. Great questions about nonprofit innovation, challenges, impact, accountability, experiments, I was on the hot seat! 😁 The creative team at Scope and Sequence are kindred spirits who are passionate about human flourishing and nonprofit storytelling. 📽 Be sure to connect with them and check out their work.
What leads one to work in the nonprofit sector?
The journey to working for social change is often deeply personal. ❤️ Honored that the Nonprofit Hive invited me to share my story, in Planting Seeds of Hope: The Vital Role of Nonprofits. And if you aren’t already involved in the Hive - a fantastic speed networking community for nonprofiteers - sign up, I hope to see you there.
Innovation for Social Change book club
That day when amazing social change leaders invite you to a book club discussion of…your book! Loved the thoughtful questions. Deeply honored that my book was selected by the We Are For Good community. ❤️ A vibrant community of change makers.
Some exciting life changes
In September I came to the end of a journey in one of the most transformational and meaningful experiences of my personal and professional life. Serving an entrepreneurial nonprofit for 18 years has been a joy. Deeply grateful to my colleagues at Mercatus Center at George Mason University.
💡 Their passion for students and for solving social problems is contagious. 🎓 As heterodox thinkers, they embody the idea that economics is an adventure and an intellectual deed of courage. ❤️ This has been meaningful, fun and creative work. My Mercatus peeps have encouraged me, helped me grow, taught me new things, their stories and wisdom informed my book! 📖
I will be opening a new chapter with wind in my sails and a full heart – stay tuned! 🎉❤️
